My daughter was six in 1993, when she saw her first American Girl catalog. She just loved Samantha. I really don't think it was her clothing, either. She used to sit and stare at the meet picture of Sam, and dream about owning her. She thought she was the most beautiful doll.

For me...it's the era. I was supposed to be born in that era, I swear. Gingerharp...I'm so jealous that you grew up in a restored Victorian! It's my dream to move an old Victorian to our farm, and restore it. I'd need a different husband, though, and I'm not willing to trade mine in.

I also think Samantha is pretty. She just is. We have two displayed at our house. DD's pre-mattel, and my post-mattel.

Her stores are great, too. I have always enjoyed them. They are in my top three, the others being Addy and Felicity.
